Margaret Thatcher dies following stroke










Margaret Thatcher has died aged 87 following a stroke, her family have confirmed.



The former Conservative prime minster has long been unwell with mental health problems and has led a private life, not

"With great sadness Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning," the family said in a statement.



Thatcher was famous the world over as the 'Iron Lady' – a nickname given to her for her stern unyielding leadership in the face of industrial action and the Falklands War.
