BRAD PAISLEY DEFENDS 'ACCIDENTAL RACIST' DUET WITH LL COOL J

NEW YORK | Tue Apr 9, 2013 4:15pm EDT

Country singer Brad Paisley on Tuesday defended his new duet with rapper LL Cool J, which has been criticized for its commentary on U.S. race relations.

"Accidental Racist" is a track from Paisley's ninth album, "Wheelhouse," which was released on Tuesday. The song describes a hypothetical encounter between a Confederate flag-wearing white Southern man and an urban African-American man in a coffee shop. Some critics have disparaged the song's content and artistry.  "I wouldn't change a thing," Paisley, one of country music's most popular artists, wrote on Twitter. "This is a record meant to be FAR from easy listening. But fun. Like life. Have a ball, ya'll."

In "Accidental Racist," Paisley sings: "Our generation didn't start this nation, and we're still picking up the pieces, walking on eggshells, fighting over yesterday," referring to post-Civil War race relations. "Caught between Southern pride and Southern blame."

LL Cool J, 45, responds with a rap that includes lyrics such as: "Just because my pants are sagging doesn't mean I'm up to no good. You should try to get to know me," and "I'd love to buy you a beer, conversate and clear the air, but I see that red flag and I think you wish I wasn't here."

Paisley has said he wanted the song to get people talking.

Several critics have panned it for what they described as a soft, apologetic treatment of lingering racial tension in the United States.
Industry website Billboard.com called "Accidental Racist" a "flat-footed apology for hate-induced uneasiness." The Atlantic magazine said the "assumption that there is no real difference among black people is exactly what racism is."

"Wheelhouse" is expected to land Paisley near the top of the U.S. album charts next week.

OLOMOGE produced by Lowkeyz (and mixed and mastered by Brain Mix) is a street wise slow tempo song which gets funkier in the middle with nice slangs on the bridge.  The song is sure to get you rocking on the dance floor.  M SMOOTH has been spending a lot of time in the studio recording several more songs, most of which are collaborations for an EP he intends to release in 2013.

M SMOOTH started out as a dancer at the age of six and ventured into music shortly after as he joined an acapella group called Gospel Ministers for Christ (GMC) and left for another group called ‘'The Mabitines’' before going solo. He was the winner of the Konga Hidden Talent in 2000 and the MTN Project Fame competition (Northern Zone) in 2009.  Please pay attention to this bundle of talent that has been touted as the best singer yet to come from J-Town (Jos) home to the likes of MI, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Jeremiah Gyang and many other notable Nigerian celebrities.

DELECTABLE NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS JENNIFER ELIOGU SWELLS THE LEAGUE OF NOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES THAT HAVE BIT THE MUSIC BUG - DROPS DEBUT SINGLE TITLED "YOU & I"

Delectable Nollywood diva, Jennifer Eliogu has joined other Nollywood actresses like Stella Damasus, Tonto Dike and Cosy Orjiakor, etc. who have forayed into the music business when she dropped her debut single titled "YOU & I,  from her upcoming album.

The star actress who says the single is a tip of the iceberg as her upcoming album which will ready sometime in 2013, would be mind blowing.  The song was produced by ace producer Chris Okoro.

Jennifer who does soul, jazz, highlife, lover's rock reggae, R&B, say's her passion for music  started from her youthful day's in the choir. "Music had always been my first love, and I sing not because it's in vogue, but because I know that I have all it takes to make good music.  After 16 years in moviedom, I know that I have paid my dues, so I have decided to live my dream  and do music on a professional level. For me it's a mission, not a competition".

YOU & I is a marriage between two generations - then and now, is a sampling of a 1974 song by Celestine Ukwu & His Philosophers National band titled "Mmefie Adiro Mgbayalu Ama Di".

Most Nigerian pop stars of his time adopted or acquired titles like King, Sir, Lord, Cardinal, etc, but the great Celestine Ukwu was happy to be a humble Professor and his band had the poetic name of the Philosophers. Ukwu began his career in the 1960's in Enugu, capital of the Eastern Region of Nigeria when his band was called the Music Royals, but the Biafran war put an end to their career in 1967. After the war he resurrected the band in the early 70's as the Philosophers National. Tragically Celestine Ukwu died in a car crash in 1977.
